Sustainability in the workplace is something that many organisations are talking about at the moment.
However, at Seraph we believe the best way to promote sustainability is to be sustainable in the workplace and lead by example. That is why we are keen to focus on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) policy.
In this article, we will share with you what we are doing to be more sustainable and how others in the property industry can reduce their carbon footprint.
There are a variety of different ways you can become more sustainable in the workplace. At Seraph, we are being more sustainable by focusing on:
As a property management company, one of our most significant forms of emission can be found in how we get around when we travel to and from our offices and sites.
Our property managers are often required on-site at multiple locations in a day so a lot of travel is often required. When you add all of these journeys up, it can have a significant impact on our carbon footprint as a company.
That’s why we aim to promote the use of public transport as much as possible. All our offices are located within a 5-minute walk of a train station and are all on bus routes, making public transport much more accessible to our workers. By using public transport, then, this in turn helps to improve our carbon footprint as a company and helps us at Seraph to be more sustainable.
Additionally, we provide shower facilities in our offices for those who cycle in, and are also part of various cycle schemes. Furthermore, we have committed to introducing electric vehicles into our company fleet when replacing older cars.

As a company, we have also started to seriously consider how to make our work practices sustainable. One of those practices that we learned from the pandemic is being able to work from home.
As a company, we aim to help facilitate working from home whenever its necessary. Going hand in hand with this is our shift towards using e-communication methods and going paperless with our customers. This means that less resources, such as paper, are wasted, helping us to be more environmentally friendly.
These changes have greatly helped us to reduce our office paper waste and has improved in our efficiency for moving to online practices and replacing paper methods with more effective software systems.

At Seraph we are proud to be a part of all the communities that we work in. Across all our branch offices we hold events with local and national charities to help raise money and awareness.
Most recently we did a branch-to-branch walk between Cardiff and Newport for Ty Hafan. Additionally, we have a referral group to help support small and local businesses by working with them.
In addition to this, we have supplied electric vehicle charging points on a number of properties and provide ample amounts of bike storage so as to help facilitate sustainability on all of our sites.
This is done in combination with educating tenants in properties we manage about how to use these amenities and be more sustainable in their homes.
