26th May 2022

Renting Homes Wales Act

With the Renting Homes Wales Act coming into effect on the 15th of July 2022, property managers have. Although this piece of legislation has been in the works since 2016 it was only this year that all the specifics have been finalised and released to the public. Managing Director Douglas Haig will be hosting an online webinar with landlords and those in the property industry about what these changes are and what effects they will have. As a non-executive director of the NRLA Douglas was closely involved in the consultations for this piece of legislation and was a strong proponent of making all changes proposed work for landlords.

The online webinar will be held on the 15th of June, exactly a month before Renting Homes Wales Act comes into effect. Douglas will cover all aspects of the act that are important for landlords. This will include the introduction of the new standardised occupational contracts, and how laws are diverging from those in England. Additionally, Douglas will cover the new ‘fit for human habitation’ requirements and the specifics required to meet them. Finally, the long-awaited changes to eviction notices and the new grounds for eviction will be explored fully.

At the end of his talk, Douglas will be open to questions from those in attendance so make sure to come along if you want a specific question answered. Furthermore, if you have a specific query about how the Renting Homes Wales Act might affect your properties our property management team will be in attendance to help advise you.
