Seraph attend RLA Future Renting Conference

8th December 2017

renting conference

Seraph Property Management attended a recent conference run by the Resident Landlord Association (RLA) and co-hosted by none other than our Managing Director Douglas Haig and TV News presenter Lucy Owen. The conference’s theme was ‘Future Renting Wales’ addressing some of the concerns landlords have within the private rented sector and discussing the impact of some of the changes legislation could have on the industry.  The talks were very informative for both landlords and agents, very useful and some rather comical discussions regarding the law and definitions of a ‘dwellinghouse’, tax changes, Rent Smart Wales as well as a reassuring talk from Rebecca Evans, Housing Minister for Wales who also opened the floor to take some questions.

In between talks, the Exhibition Hall was full flowing, with ourselves and other companies within the industry, offering their services as well as help and advice to those landlords, who are taking a pro-active approach to letting out their properties. We also had a property quiz, in which there was a chance to win a bottle of champagne, should you answer all the questions correctly! And with a 36% pass rate, luckily we were on hand to explain the answers surrounding very current topics such as the Annual Budget Announcement, Rent Smart Wales and inventories!

The day seemed to be a success with over 200 landlords in attendance and some great feedback for the exhibitors. To those who attended we hope you enjoyed the day and for those that didn’t we recommend you sign up for the next one!
